19-year-old Summer Butler of Ada was killed in a two-car collision on Tuesday, May 31 in a tragic failure to yield accident.
According to police, Butler was a passenger in a 2006 Chevrolet pickup along with three other occupants when an older SH3W driven by Stanley Moore, 70, failed to yield at a stop sign on Oklahoma 3 and crashed into the pickup. The accident occurred about one mile west of Ada.
All four occupants of the Chevrolet pickup were ejected from the vehicle. Three people in the truck, a 26-year-old woman, a 25-year-old woman, and a 6-year-old girl, were transported to a local hospital and are expected to recover. Moore was transported to the hospital in stable condition but died two days later from his injuries.
Summer Butler was pronounced dead at the scene by a state medial examiner.
Failure to yield accidents are the second-most common traffic violations that result in accidents and the second-leading cause of fatal traffic collisions.
