Protecting Access to Care Act of 2017 [H.R. 1215]

The US House of Representatives is considering new legislation to greatly impede upon the accountability of nursing homes, incompetent doctors, pharmaceutical companies and unsafe hospitals that are responsible for the injury or death of American patients.
H.R. 1215 takes away rights that American’s currently have as well as the power of local juries to decide cases. H.R. 1215 will consolidate that power into the hands of politicians, instead.
There are many harsh and punishing provisions included in the austere bill. Amongst these provisions is a federally-mandated $250,000 “cap” placed on compensation received for “non-economic” injuries such as the loss of life, paralysis, trauma, etc. This will be enforced even in states where such caps are unconstitutional. Some other provisions include prohibiting a severely injured person from receiving a lump sum award for an injury, a federally-mandated statute of limitations; even more restrictive in nature than a majority of state laws, and a Federal replacement of rights secured by state laws.
Our team of Attorney’s and staff here at Kent McGuire law stand firmly against this attack on the rights of American people. The vote on final passage of H.R. 1215 is scheduled for Wednesday, June 28, 2017. Take action today and let your voice be heard. Tell Congress to vote “NO” on H.R. 1215.
