Councilwoman in the city of Konawa killed in ATV crash

Around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday the city of Konawa lost a respected member of the community. The crash happened on private property off of State Highway 99. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a 30-year old man named Christopher Barton drove the ATV. Barton was driving southbound in a pasture when he hit a telephone pole. The cause of him hitting the telephone pole is still unknown.

Councilwoman Tiffany Barton was also on the ATV with him and both were thrown from the ATV. Christopher was taken to Ada hospital where he was treated in shortly released. However, Tiffany Barton was pronounced dead at the scene, and the cause of death was a severe head injury.

The people of Konawa are still mourning for the lost of this important member of our society. People are waiting for answers as the crash is still under investigation.
