A DUI crash knocked out a traffic light and injured one person Thursday morning in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The Shawnee Police Department responded to a wreck at the intersection of Shawnee Mall Drive and Harrison Street just after 1 a.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, officers discovered an overturned vehicle in the roadway. 19 year old Bodevin Ezell operated the crashed vehicle, which hit a light pole before overturning. Ezell’s passenger suffered injuries the crash and was transported to OU Medical Center treatment. Police did not immediately identify the passenger. Additionally, the accident destroyed a stoplight at the intersection. As of Thursday afternoon, the stoplight remained out of order.
Officers on scene arrested Ezell and transported him to the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center. Ezell is under investigation on suspicion of DUI, destruction of city property and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury. However, Ezell did not face any formal charges as Thursday.
