Driver Tries to Flee Scene of Fatal Vehicle Crash
Durant, OK (January 12, 2019) Earlier this week on January 7th, a fatal vehicle crash happened on 12th Avenue. According to the reports, a man named Casey Sallee ran a stop sign and collided with a truck driving in the opposite direction. The impact of the collision landed his car in someone’s yard and the truck up against a tree.
Sallee got out of the car and fled the scene, leaving his passenger 31-year-old Cricket Sims inside of the vehicle. He fled because he was on probation and has a criminal history that includes convictions of meth possession and burglary.
When the paramedics arrived, Sims had already succumbed to her injuries as a result of the crash.
The police eventually found and arrested Sallee, which means he now faces a felony charge for leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Our hearts our with Sims’ family as they grieve for the loss of their loved one.
Vehicle Accidents in Oklahoma
Most of the time vehicle accidents occur because of at least one driver’s negligent behavior. Driving under the influence, speeding, conversing with passengers, and violating traffic laws are a few examples of negligence.
Because Sallee ran a stop sign, he violated a traffic law which resulted into Sims losing her life. It’s even more unfortunate that he fled the scene without calling for help, which could have potentially saved her life. Since this accident was a clear result of negligent behavior, Sims’ family could file a wrongful death lawsuit with the help of an Oklahoma personal injury lawyer to help cover funeral expenses and more.
