Fatal Wreck in Leflore County, Oklahoma

A fatal wreck occurred in LeFlore County, Oklahoma on Thursday.  The Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the collision involving a blue pickup truck and a white work truck.  The drivers have been identified as Don Mayes of Gore, Oklahoma and Walter Fanning of Miami, Oklahoma.  There were no other individuals involved in the collision.  Both Mayes and Gore passed away from their injuries.

The OHP says that the accident was caused when Mayes’s truck, heading southbound on Highway 59, crossed over the center line and struck Fanning’s truck head on.  Both lanes of the highway were closed for an extensive period of time while crews worked to clean up and investigate the collision.
