Police Investigate Vehicle Crash on Southwest 11th Street
Lawton, OK (January 5, 2019) On the 4th of January, a vehicle crash happened at the intersection of Southwest 11th Street and Southwest D Drive just before 12:00 p.m. According to the reports, a gold SUV failed to stop at a stoplight, which caused it to rear-end the vehicle in front of it, ultimately leading to a chain reaction. When emergency crews arrived at the scene to help, they found two people injured and immediately transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment. Crews shut down both streets for half an hour as they worked to clear the scene. The accident is currently under investigation.
We hope both injured victims fully recover from their injuries.
Vehicle Accidents in Oklahoma
The leading cause of most chain-reaction accidents is an initial crash between two vehicles, which was the case in this accident. The leading cause of most vehicle accidents in general is negligent driving, which includes speeding, violating traffic laws, using a cell phone, driving under the influence and more.
The police are currently investigating this accident to figure out why the SUV ran a stoplight and rear-ended the vehicle in front of it. Even though determining liability in chain-reaction accidents can be complex, it looks like the driver of the SUV will be held liable for this accident. Once the police finish their investigation, the two injured victims may be able to file personal injury lawsuits with the help of an attorney.
