Authorities responded to a multiple vehicle accident on the Turner Turnpike at approximately 5:00 am on Saturday morning. The accident occurred near Luther Road in Luther, Oklahoma and took place in the eastbound lanes of the highway. Those lanes were closed for over an hour following the accident as police conducted their investigation. The lanes have since reopened and traffic is now moving.
When police arrived on scene they found at least one person suffering from serious injuries. The person received treatment on scene and was eventually airlifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Authorities did not identify those involved in the accident as of Saturday evening.
Multiple Vehicle Accident
Accidents involving multiple vehicles happen daily across Oklahoma. In a multiple vehicle accident, there is often a chain reaction of events, set off by an initial negligent action on behalf of a driver. One example is a rear end collision, where one vehicle collides with a car in front and that vehicle in turn hits several other vehicles which are stopped in the roadway. The driver of the initial vehicle which caused the accident can then be legally responsible for all collisions or actions which occur afterwards. The sequence of events in a multiple vehicle accident is very important to determine when it comes to proving negligence in an Oklahoma car accident case.
