Jason Peterson injured after crashing his truck into the back of a semi.
According to the report, Peterson was driving his Dodge near mile marker 95. Investigators say he dropped something inside his vehicle and bent down to pick it up. While looking down, he didn’t notice that the semi in front of him slowed down for a construction zone. Before Peterson could brake or correct his vehicle, he crashed into the back of the semi, pinning him.
Peterson was trapped inside his car for about 30 minutes before he was extracted. Purcell Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free him and then he was treated by EMTs for his injuries. Peterson was taken to the hospital with leg injuries, but he is expected to live. Police have listed the cause of the crash as inattention, but they are still investigating the crash for any other details.
