A fatal accident in Oklahoma City claimed the lives of two people after a woman was driving recklessly and collided with at least one other vehicle. The driver apparently weaved into oncoming traffic prior to the wreck, prompting a 911 call from a witness. Moments later, the driver ended up causing this deadly crash.
There were few details available about the car accident, but what is known is that the woman was traveling at a high rate of speed and that she was intoxicated in some way — possibly a combination of drugs and alcohol. The woman was arrested and charged with manslaughter, DUI and reckless driving.
Yet again we see an unfortunate example of reckless driving. If it isn’t texting while driving, then it’s drunk driving. If it isn’t drunk driving, then it’s a speeding driver. If it isn’t a speeding driver, then it’s a driver making an illegal traffic move.
These drivers are out there all the time, and though it would be nice they would just stop their negligent behavior, that simply isn’t realistic. Sadly, there will always be dangerous drivers out on the road putting the lives of obedient, innocent people at risk.
Given this unforgiving reality about the road, it’s no wonder that so many people have to seek civil justice from the reckless driver, in addition to the criminal justice that reckless driver will face too. Personal injury lawsuits can serve a very important function for many accidents victims, affording them the chance to earn needed compensation for their medical bills and property damage.
