Police Investigate Four Vehicle Accidents
Oklahoma City, OK (October 29, 2018) In the early morning of October 29th, four vehicle accidents occurred overnight along Interstate 40 between MacArthur Boulevard and Portland Avenue. Officials reported that a tire and a rim are the cause of the string of accidents. The police predict that the wheel came from a commercial vehicle and somehow went airborne and crashed into a pickup truck. Hitting the pickup truck resulted in a rollover collision and another collision that caused serious front-end damage. The tire continued down an embankment and hit a semi-truck that was headed north. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find two people injured and one dead. The police are currently searching for the truck driver that lost a wheel and a rim. They believe it’s possible that the driver might not be aware that he is driving without them, and that the lug nuts are loose.
Vehicle Accidents in Oklahoma
In most cases, the leading cause of vehicle accidents is negligent driving. However, in this case, the cause was a defective auto part that went flying down the freeway and hitting other vehicles. In the United States, truck companies have to abide by federal regulations, one of which requires truck drivers to log any information pertaining to the truck during their shifts. Information regarding the truck’s condition is part of the required documentation. Once the police find the truck driver who lost some auto parts, it’s very likely that a wrongful death lawsuit and personal injury lawsuits will be filed. It’s highly unfortunate that two people suffered injuries and that a life was lost in this accident.
