Studies show that negligence plays a role in almost every accident in the United States. The leading causes include distracted driving, drunk driving, speeding, reckless driving, and improper turning. Distracted driving is the most popular cause of vehicle accidents because many people use their phones while they drive, which is highly dangerous since there’s no way to equally focus on the content in a phone and one’s surroundings simultaneously. Drunk driving is dangerous because drivers usually drive at rapid speeds and have slow reaction times to their surroundings. Improper turning is a violation of the laws of the road which were made for public safety. Some of these factors may be more severe than others but they all equally injure or take the lives of thousands of people every year.

The police are investigating this accident to determine if any of these factors played a role. Depending on their findings, personal injury lawsuits could get filed.
