Pontotoc County, OK: Man Killed in Accident Involving Tractor-Trailer

Pontotoc County, Oklahoma (January 5, 2018): A local Oklahoma resident, 50-year-old Jimmy Neel, of Ada County, OK, was killed in a tragic accident Sunday morning, December 31, 2017. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has confirmed that it has opened an investigation into this incident, and only limited information has been made available at this time.

According to reports, the accident occurred just before 10:00 AM on New Year’s Eve at the private property of Ada Energy Services, located at 13710 County Road 1550 in Ada, Oklahoma. A 2008 tractor-trailer that Neel had been standing in front of began to move forward, hitting Neel and dragging him almost 50 feet, where he was then struck by the trailer’s back axle.

Emergency responders transported Neel from the scene to nearby Mercy Hospital in Ada. Neel died from his injuries at the hospital a short while later. The driver of the tractor-trailer, local Ada resident Mark Allread, was reportedly uninjured in the collision and reports do not indicate that he has been cited or charged in relation to the crash.
