A rollover crash on Interstate 44 in Oklahoma City caused delays and injuries on Monday. The crash happened at around 3:30 pm near the exit for 39th Street. That is when police say a vehicle, traveling in the northbound lane, attempted to merge into another travel lane. The vehicle failed to safely maneuver during the merge and ended up clipping another vehicle, also traveling in the northbound lane. The impact of the collision caused one vehicle to roll over onto its side.
The crash caused a major headache for motorists. Delays were prominent on the highway in the hours following the accident as the highway was narrowed down by at least one lane. There were injuries reported in the collision but, fortunately they do not appear to be life-threatening at this time. Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated the collision.
Highway collisions occur on an almost daily basis across Oklahoma. Usually, these accidents are the most dangerous because they happen at higher speeds than if they had occurred within city limits. The higher speed of the accident obviously results in more serious injuries and even fatalities in some cases. Merging into traffic on a busy highway is always a dangerous activity. Motorists must use extra caution to ensure that all movements that they take on the highway are made in safety. Failing to do so can result in crashes such as the one that occurred today.
