Sequoyah County, OK: Woman Killed in Fatal UTV Accident

Sequoyah County, Oklahoma (January 5, 2018): A local resident of Roland, Oklahoma, 39-year-old Mary Tibodeaux, was killed after falling from a 1999 Kawasaki 2510 Mule utility task vehicle driven by 49-year-old Jim Beaty, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, in a tragic accident on Thursday afternoon, December 21, 2017. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and details remain limited.

According to reports, the pair were traveling east on Sequoyah County Road 1060. The accident occurred just after 2:00 pm when, about six miles outside of Sallisaw, Tibodeaux’s hat flew off and when she attempted to retrieve it while the UTV was still in motion, she fell off the vehicle and hit her head on the pavement. Tibodeaux was transported from the scene to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas where she was ultimately pronounced dead from her injuries.
