Crash Causes 1 Fatality, 9 Injuries
Tecumseh, OK (June 30, 2018) – On Saturday morning at approximately 5:15 a.m., a pickup truck collided with a military bus. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 177. According to the Tecumseh Police, the military bus had 26 Oklahoma National Guardsmen with the 1245th Transportation Company. The collision was head-on, killing the driver of the pickup truck. Although there was only one casualty, one soldier suffered from severe injuries, while nine suffered from minor injuries. The rest of the 17 soldiers are being checked for injuries as well. All soldiers were transported to the hospital.
When a passenger is involved in a bus accident and suffers injuries, the passenger can file a personal injury lawsuit if the passenger can prove that the accident was caused by negligent driving. It’s imperative that the passenger gets accurate information because not all bus accidents occur due to negligent driving. Because bus drivers are responsible for the care of their passengers, if negligence can be proved, injured passengers have the right to receive the compensation they deserve for medical expenses, loss of wages, and other damages.
Bus accidents can also occur due to driver fatigue, failure to follow safety measures, or mechanical failure. If that’s the case, passengers can also file against a maintenance provider or a manufacturing company.
