Tulsa, Oklahoma (December 18, 2017): A man was declared brain dead after a pedestrian accident in southwest Tulsa on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. The Tulsa Police Department was dispatched around 9:30 that morning to respond to the accident location at the intersection of 71st Street and Union Avenue.
According to reports, 38-year-old Christopher Alan Bilby was struck by a northbound vehicle while attempting to cross the street at that intersection. Witnesses reportedly told police that the car did not have time to avoid striking the pedestrian and the police report indicates that the car had the green light at the time of the crash, though the accident remains under investigation.
Emergency responders transported Bilby to Saint Francis Hospital in critical condition. He was reportedly declared brain dead at the hospital and placed on life support for organ donation. The Medical Examiners Office confirms that it took possession of the body on Thursday, December 14, 2017.
