A Tulsa woman is dead after being run over by a pick up truck late Friday night. Tulsa police were called to the scene of the accident at Admiral Road and Mingo Place around 10:00 pm. Upon their arrival, first responders found the woman lying flat in westbound lanes of Admiral. Emergency medical attention was administered on scene. The woman was later rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police say that the crash occurred as the woman attempted to cross the road. She had the right of way, but while crossing the road, was struck by a white pick up truck. Rather than remaining at the scene, the driver of the pick up truck fled and was not present when police arrived. The driver has not been apprehended at this time. There is no word on what charges the driver will face upon being caught by police. Tulsa police are still investigating the case.
Pedestrian accidents are some of the worst types of accidents that we encounter in our daily practice. A pedestrian accident is almost always a severe accident. Pedestrians normally suffer very serious injuries, including broken bones, permanent disfigurement and even death when they are involved in a collision with a vehicle.
Drivers have a duty of care not only to other drivers, but also to pedestrians that they encounter on the road while driving. If a driver’s negligence leads to a collision with a pedestrian, the driver is legally responsible for the collision the same as if they had crashed into another vehicle.
At the McGuire Law Firm, we know how severe pedestrian accidents can be. Our thoughts go out to the victim of this terrible collision in Tulsa. If we can help you or someone you know, please give us a call today at 888-352-0624.
